Today, January 18, 2026, we are celebrating our 90th anniversary. Our story began on this date in 1936, when our first plant, Santa Helena, located in the town of Votorantim, in the interior of the state of São Paulo, Brazil, produced cement for the first time. At that time, almost all the cement used in Brazil was imported. Driven by the entrepreneurial spirit embedded in the DNA of our founders, we believed it was possible to do things differently. We were born for this purpose, to not only help build structures, but to make dreams come true and pave paths for development.
For 90 years, we have been part of people’s lives. We are in the homes of families, in the schools that educate and open doors to opportunities, in the hospitals that care for people and save lives, in the museums that display the art made around the world, in the stadiums and sports venues where we unleash our emotions. We are in the roads, bridges and viaducts that connect destinations and stories. We are part of sanitation and other key infrastructures of the present and the future, bringing technology, innovation and well-being to society. We are also in agriculture, nourishing and helping soil reach its full productive potential. And we contribute to the sustainability of the planet by transforming waste into energy, giving a new purpose to what used to be discarded easily.
We are a building materials and sustainable solutions company. We have expanded our operations in the construction industry to include concretes, mortars, limes, aggregates, grouts, finishes, plasticizers, additives and waterproofing agents. We have diversified and extended our standards of excellence and quality to other sectors through our businesses in agricultural solutions, sustainable waste management and disposal, logistics, and even an ecosystem of solutions for retail.
We started in Brazil, where we operate in all regions, from Oiapoque to Chuí. We have also expanded abroad. Now, we are a multinational company operating in nine countries in Latin America (Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil and Uruguay), North America (Canada and United States), Europe (Luxembourg and Spain) and Asia (Türkiye).
We are in iconic construction projects that span generations. From the Viaduto do Chá, in the city of São Paulo, to the Itaipu Hydroelectric Power Plant, on the border between Brazil and Paraguay. From the CN Tower, which almost touches the sky in Toronto, Canada, to the restored cathedral that connects people to heaven in Santiago de Compostela, Spain. From Millennium Park, in Chicago, USA, to the high-speed rail line in Türkiye.
Challenges push us forward. We are part of the solution to climate change, as we help build a more sustainable future. We are working to make carbon-neutral concrete available to society by 2050. And concrete is the most resistant, durable and adaptable building material, with the potential to offer resilient solutions to withstand the extreme weather events faced by our planet. At the same time, we remain steadfast on our circular economy journey to reduce and neutralize our carbon emissions. Between 1990 and 2024, we reduced our CO2 emissions in cement production by 28%.
People and culture are important to us. We do the right thing, the right way. We offer career and development opportunities for people to grow with us in a wide array of areas of knowledge, working collaboratively to learn and teach—from engineering to logistics, from laboratories to offices, from plants to mines, from finance to information technology. Currently, we are more than 13,000 employees, in nine countries, driven by the confidence that our work helps improve people’s lives, transforming dreams into reality. Ultimately, we build more than just structures. We boost well-being, social transformation, and community and partner development, supporting growth, diversity and inclusion.
We are proud of the fact that approximately 25% of our leadership positions are occupied by women. Of the growth opportunities that our employees have. Of being a publicly traded company with high standards of governance, ethics and compliance. Of having investment-grade ratings assigned by the three leading credit rating agencies in the world. Of renovating homes, helping to reduce housing deficits. Of offering professional training to people living in the communities where we operate. Of providing education, inclusion and local development opportunities, generating a positive impact and contributing to social transformation. Of ensuring that everyone at Votorantim Cimentos can reach their full potential in a healthy, respectful and collaborative environment.
Our 90-year history is written by many people: employees, customers, partners, suppliers, community members, investors. Together, we have come this far. And together, we continue to grow through new projects, new ideas and new paths.
Votorantim Cimentos. 90 years building the future.
